Licenses

LAST UPDATED: AUGUST 2026

Animatica is built on open source, and parts of Animatica are open source themselves. This page lists the licences that cover the typeface and the software we use and ship, and the terms that cover the plugins.

1. Fonts

Barlow, by Jeremy Tribby, is used across this site and the app under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The licence permits use, modification and redistribution of the typeface, including in commercial work, provided the font files themselves are not sold on their own.

2. Open source in this site and app

The website and the web app are built on Next.js, React and Tailwind CSS, all under the MIT License, alongside a number of smaller MIT- and BSD-licensed packages. The authoritative list of what we depend on, with versions, is the project’s package.json. If you need a full attribution list for compliance purposes, write to hello@animatica.ai and we will send one.

3. Animatica open source

The MMCP protocol (the motion model context protocol our plugins speak) and the Animatica backbone that implements it are released under the Apache License 2.0 at github.com/animatica-ai. That licence lets you run, modify and self-host the backbone, including commercially, subject to its notice and patent terms.

4. Plugin end-user licence

The Animatica plugins for Blender, MotionBuilder and other hosts are proprietary: they are licensed, not sold. While your account is active you have a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the plugins on machines you control, for personal or commercial work, whether you point them at our hosted backbone or at your own. You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense or publish the plugins, and you may not reverse engineer them except so far as the law says that right cannot be excluded. The licence ends when your account ends. [FULL EULA TO FOLLOW]
