Animatica Choreographer · Free

Generate motion on your own character.

Choreographer is a free plugin that generates character animation. Describe the action, key the poses that must happen, or put down waypoints for where it goes, and it makes a new take on your character as keyframes you can edit.

Choreographer · BlenderReal take, the wait cut
How it works

Key the poses you need. It generates the rest.

You decide what has to happen and where. The model generates the frames in between, and the keys you set stay exactly where you put them.

  1. 01
Key the poses that must happen.

Set two or three key poses on your character, or none and describe the action.

  2. 02
    Generate the motion between them.

The model fills in every frame around your keys, at 30 fps, up to 10 seconds a prompt.

  3. 03
Edit the take like your own.

It comes back as keyframes on your rig, to select, retime and delete like any animation.

Ways to direct it

Key poses, waypoints or a prompt.

Use one or combine them. They work the same in Blender, Motion Builder and 3ds Max.

Keyframes. Set the poses that must happen.

Key the poses that matter on your character. The take passes through each one exactly as you keyed it, and the model makes the motion between them.

Waypoints. Say where the character goes.

Add a waypoint at a frame and drag it across the floor to where the character should be by then. The model plans the walk between waypoints, with its own stride and speed.

Prompts. Describe the action in words.

Type what happens into the bar. Each block on the timeline takes its own prompt, so one take can sneak forward on tiptoe and then jump and cheer.

Also in Blender

Loop it. Paste it onto any rig.

A take can be a cycle that comes round on itself, ready for a game. And any take copies off one character and pastes onto another, whatever its skeleton.

Loops. Cycles that come round seamlessly.

Switch on Loop beside Generate and the take is made as a cycle: its last frame flows into its first. Play it in place for a game, or let a walk keep walking.

Copy and paste. Put a take on any character.

Copy Motion copies a take off one character. Select another on any skeleton, like the Mixamo rig here, and Paste Motion retargets the take to its bones and proportions.

Hosts

It runs in Blender, Motion Builder and 3ds Max.

One account and one monthly allowance cover every host. Each plugin writes keyframes the way that host stores them.

Animatica Marionette · October 21

Then edit the take by hand.

In Blender, Marionette adds posing and editing by hand to Choreographer's bar: drag a hand and the body follows, pull the motion trail, pose frames in the zoetrope, lock a foot in place. It runs offline and costs $59 once, with 50% off on Product Hunt in launch week.

Your data stays out of training, in writing.

Before you start

Questions.

Is Choreographer free?
Yes, in every host. Every account also gets 10 generations a month on Animatica Cloud. More come in packs of 50 for $5, which never expire, or with Pro: 500 a month for $20.
Do I need a GPU?
No. Animatica Cloud runs the model on our GPUs. If you have one, you can run the open-source backbone (Apache-2.0) yourself and generate on your own machine instead.
Can I use the motion in commercial work?
Yes. We claim no ownership of the motion you generate, and you may use it in commercial work on any plan. We do not train models on your inputs without your separate agreement.
Which model does it run?
NVIDIA's Kimodo, a motion model that takes text, key poses and paths and returns 30 fps motion.
